Skeleton Fest Kick-Off Celebration

No bones about it! Skeletons will invade West Haven! The rib-tickling excitement begins October 12th with a Kick-Off Celebration from 6-9pm at the Harugari Club, 66 Highland St. Get a sneak peek at all the decorated skeletons, take some selfies, and vote for your favorite one! The party will feature fantastic food truck eats, a special cocktail menu, a DJ and dancing, Tarot card and palm readers, a costume contest, and more! The event is free to attend and open to the public. Food and beverages available for purchase.

Howloween skaryoke contest

Calling all spooktacular singers! $100 prize for best Halloween song. All ages welcome. $5 cover charge. Email whskeletonfest@gmail.com to sign up: name, email, and song request. Amateurs only please. Event will be live on FaceBook. It will take place at 7pm at RVP/ Performance Plus Studios, 221 Bull Hill Lane, West Haven.

Historical Society Haunted Graveyard Tours

The Historical Society’s “Graveyard Lantern Tour” will be held from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The people who will “come to life” will be real former citizens of West Haven.

WH United presents Beetle Juice movie with Crafts for Kids, Food Trucks, Kids’ Costume Contest, Carved Pumpkin Contest, and more!

The fun will take place on the West Haven Green starting at 5pm; movie is at 7pm.

Monday, October 28 Flashlight Halloween Haunt

The Department of Parks and Recreation’s Flashlight Halloween Haunt will take place on Monday, Oct. 28, at the Painter Park tennis courts, 190 Kelsey Ave.

The free event, for city residents, includes a candy corn guess and a contest for best costume. Trick-or-treaters must bring a flashlight and a candy bag to search for ghoulish goodies.

Prizes are awarded for best costume in each age group.

The hunt schedule is 6:05 p.m., ages 3 and younger; 6:25 p.m., ages 4-5; 6:50 p.m., ages 6-7; and 7:05 p.m., ages 8-10.

Participants should register 10-15 minutes before their hunt time and must show proof of residence. Only one adult may assist a child in the hunt for ages 3 and under; all other age groups hunt unassisted.

Trick-or-treaters are asked to bring nonperishable items for the West Haven Emergency Assistance Task Force, which provides food for residents in need.
